  • February 21, 2012 - New Jersey Governor Christie has ordered the flag of the United States of America and flag of the State of New Jersey to be flown at half-staff on Tuesday, February 21, 2012 at all State departments, offices, and instrumentalities in honor of United State Marine Lance Corporal Osbrany Montes De Oca who died in Helmand Province, Afghanistan.

  • February 21, 2012 - Montana Governor Schweitzer has ordered all flags throughout the State of Montana to be flown at half-staff on Tuesday, February 21, 2012 in honor of retired U.S. Army Reserve Colonel, Bill Beaman who died on February 16, 2012 after a long battle with cancer. All individuals are encouraged to join in this tribute.

  • February 18, 2012 - Virginia Governor McDonnell has ordered the flag of the Commonwealth of Virginia lowered to half-staff over the state Capitol building from sunrise to sunset on Saturday, February 18, 2012 in honor of Gore Volunteer Fire & Rescue fire fighter Zachary Whitacre who died in the line of duty. It is encouraged that the flag of the Commonwealth of Virginia be flown at half-staff at all building and grounds in the Town of Gore, the County of Frederick, the County of Winchester, and any other localities as deemed appropriate in respect and memory of Fire fighter Zachary Whitacre.

  • February 17, 2012 - New Jersey Governor has directed that the flag of the United States of America and the flag of the State of New Jersey be lowered to half-staff at all State departments, offices, agencies, and instrumentalities on Friday, February 17, 2012 in honor of Whitney Houston who was born in Newark, New Jersey on August 9, 1926. Houston passed away on February 11, 2012 at the age of 48 in Beverly Hills, California.

  • February 16, 2012 - Virginia Governor McDonnell has ordered the flag of the Commonwealth of Virginia lowered to half-staff over the state Capitol building from sunrise to sunset on Thursday, February 16, 2012 in respect and memory of Alexandria Fire Department Paramedic Joshua Weissman who died in the line of duty. It is encouraged that the flag of the Commonwealth of Virginia may be flown at half-staff on all local, state, and federal buildings and grounds in the Cities of Alexandria and Fairfax and the Counties of Arlington and Fairfax in memory of Paramedic Joshua Weissman.

  •  February 13, 2012 - Virginia Governor McDonnell has ordered the flag of the United States of America and the Commonwealth of Virginia to be flown at half-staff over the state Capitol building from sunrise to sunset on Monday, February 13, 2012 in respect and memory of Virginia Air National Guard member, Staff Sergeant Joseph B. Marotta. It is encouraged that the flags of the United States of America and Commonwealth of Virginia be flown at half-staff at all buildings and grounds in the City of Williamsburg, County of James City, County of York, and the County of Henrico in memory of Staff Sergeant Marotta.

  • February 11, 2012 - Kansas Governor Brownback has ordered flags to be flown at half-staff from sunrise to sunset on Saturday, February 11, 2012 in honor of Judge Wesley Brown who died at the age of 104 on January 23, 2012 in Wichita. Judge Brown was the oldest active federal judge in U.S. History.

  • February 8, 2012 - Washington Governor Gregoire has directed flags at all Washington State Agency facilities to be lowered to half-staff on Wednesday, February 8, 2012 in honor of United States Marine Sergeant William C. Stacey of Seattle who died on January 31, 2012 in Afghanistan. All individuals are encouraged to join in this tribute.

  • February 8, 2012 - Virginia Governor McDonnell has ordered the flag of the Commonwealth of Virginia to be flown at half-staff throughout Virginia from sunrise to sunset on Wednesday, February 8, 2012 in honor of Former State Delegate, Glenn B. McClanan.

  • February 5, 2012 - Wisconsin Governor Walker has ordered the United States flag and State of Wisconsin flag lowered to half-staff at all building and grounds from sunrise to sunset on Sunday, February 5, 2012 in honor of United States Army 1st Lieutenant David A. Johnson of Mayville, Wisconsin who died in the line of duty in Afghanistan.

  • February 3, 2012 - Arizona Governor Brewer has ordered all flags at state office buildings to half-staff from sunrise to sunset on Friday, February 3, 2012 in honor of former Arizona Supreme Court Justice Michael Ryan who spent 24 years on the bench as a superior court and appellate court judge. Additionally he was a United States Marine Corps. veteran who served in Vietnam and the recipient of two Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star. An announcement to lower flags for his burial at Arlington National Cemetery will be sent in the near future. All individuals are encouraged to join in this tribute.

  • February 3, 2012 - Minnesota Governor Dayton has proclaimed February 3, 2012 as Immortal Four Chaplains Day in the State of Minnesota as an example of compassion for those of different races or faiths, and has ordered flags to be flown at half-staff from sunrise to sunset on Friday, February 3, 2012 in honor of Immortal Four Chaplains Day.

  • February 2, 2012 - Washington Governor Gregoire has directed flags at all Washington State agency facilities be lowered to half-staff on Thursday, February 2, 2012 in memory of United States Army Private First Class Neil I. Turner of Tacoma who died on January 11, 2012 in Afghanistan from injuries sustained in a training accident. All citizens are encouraged to join in this tribute.

  • February 1, 2012 - Massachusetts Governor Patrick has ordered the United States Flag and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Flag lowered to half-staff at all state buildings from sunrise to sunset on Wednesday, February 1, 2012 in honor of Kevin H. White who was the Mayor of Boston from 1968 – 1984.

  • February 1, 2012 - South Carolina Governor Haley has ordered flags to be at half-staff from sunrise to sunset on Wednesday, February 1, 2012 in honor of Master Corporal Sandy Rogers’ of the City of Aiken who died in the line of duty on Saturday, January 28, 2012.

  • January 27, 2012 - Illinois Governor Quinn has ordered the United States flag and Illinois State flag lowered to half-staff from Friday, January 27, 2012 until sunset on Sunday, January 29, 2012 in honor of United States Marine Captain Nathan R. McHone of Crystal Lake, Illinois.

  • January 27, 2012 - Arkansas Governor Beebe has ordered the United States flag and Arkansas State flag be flown at half-staff on Friday, January 27, 2012 in honor of United States Army Special Forces Sergeant First Class Benjamin B. Wise, a native of El Dorado who died in Landstuhl, Germany earlier this month from wounds suffered during combat in Afghanistan.

  • January 27, 2012 - Massachusetts Governor Patrick has ordered the United States flag and Commonwealth of Massachusetts flag lowered to half-staff from sunrise to sunset on Friday, January 27, 2012 in honor of Specialist Keith D. Benson of Norwood, Massachusetts who died in Afghanistan on January 18, 2012.

  • January 27, 2012 - South Carolina Governor Haley has ordered flags atop the State House be flown at half-staff from sunrise to sunset on Friday, January 27, 2012 in honor of Medal of Honor recipient MSG John Franklin Baker, Jr.

  • January 27, 2012 - Iowa Governor Branstad has ordered all flags in Iowa to be flown at half-staff from 5:00pm on Friday, January 27, 2012 until 8:00am Monday, January 30, 2012 in honor of United States Marine Corps Master Sergeant Travis Riddick, formerly of Centerville, Iowa who died on Saturday, January 21, 2012 in a helicopter crash in southern Afghanistan.

  • January 24, 2012 - At the direction of Pennsylvania Governor Tom Corbett, all Pennsylvania flags in the Capitol Complex and at Commonwealth facilities statewide are to be flown at half-staff, immediately, January 24, 2012 in honor of legendary Penn State football coach Joe Paterno. Flags should remain at half-staff through sunset Thursday, January 26, 2012. All Pennsylvanians are invited to join in this tribute.

Napier of London, Kentucky who died on January 8, 2012 in Zabul province, Afghanistan. All individuals are encouraged to join in this tribute.

  • January 18, 2012 - Illinois Governor Quinn has ordered the United States flag and Illinois State flag lowered to half-staff from sunrise, Wednesday, January 18, 2012 until sunset on Friday, January 20, 2012 in honor of United States Army National Guard Staff Sergeant Jonathan Metzger of Richton Park, Illinois.

  • January 17, 2012 - Arkansas Governor Beebe has ordered the United States flags and Arkansas State flags lowered to half-staff immediately, Tuesday, January 17, 2012 until sunset on Thursday, January 19, 2012 in honor of Sergeant First Class Benjamin B. Wise of Little Rock.

  • January 17, 2012 - West Virginia Governor Tomblin has ordered all United States flags and West Virginia State flags lowered to half-staff immediately, Tuesday, January 17, 2012 until sunset on January 27, 2012 in honor of former West Virginia Governor Hulett C. Smith who passed away on January 15, 2012 at age 93. He served as Governor from 1965 until 1969.

Seidler of Westminster, Maryland who died on January 5, 2012 in Shir ghazi, Helmand Provice, Afghanistan.

Wildrick, Jr. of Woodsboro, Maryland who died on December 11, 2011 in Kunar Province, Afghanistan.

  • January 13, 2012 - Alaska Governor Parnell has ordered state flags lowered to half-staff on Friday, January 13, 2012 in honor of former Chief Justice of the Alaska Supreme Court Robert Boochever who passed away in October. A memorial service is being held in Pasadena, California on Friday.

  • January 12, 2012 - New Mexico Governor Martinez has ordered all flags in New Mexico to be flown at half-staff from sunrise to sunset on Thursday, January 12, 2012 in honor of Sergeant Pernell Herrera of the New Mexico Guard. Sergeant Pernell passed away after suffering cardiac arrest while serving in Helmand Province, Afghanistan on December 31, 2010.

  • January 12, 2012 - Alaska Governor Parnell has ordered state flags lowered to half-staff on Thursday, January 12, 2012 in honor of former State Representative Edmund “Ed” Orbeck who passed away last Friday morning in Arizona at the age of 96. He served on the Fairbanks City Council and represented Fairbanks for give terms in the State House before joining Governor Jay Hammond’s administration as labor commissioner, where he served for eight years.

  • January 8, 2012 - Arizona Governor Brewer has ordered all flags at state buildings in Arizona should be flown at half-staff immediately, January 8, 2012 until sunset on Monday, January 9, 2012 in honor of Maricopa County Sheriff Deputy William “Bill” Coleman who was fatally shot early this morning in the line of duty while responding to a burglary in progress in Anthem.

  • January 7, 2012 - Minnesota Governor Dayton has ordered all United States flag and Minnesota State flags lowered to half-staff from sunrise to sunset on Saturday, January 7, 2012 in honor of World War II hero Mike Colalillo and Lake City, Minnesota Police Department Officer Shawn Schneider. Officer Schneider died a hero on December 30, 2011, eleven days after being shot in the line of duty while saving the life of another person. Michael “Mike” Colalillo, the last living Medal of Honor recipient in Minnesota, died on Friday, December 30, 2011 at eight-six years of age.

  • January 7, 2012 South Carolina Governor Haley has ordered flags to be flown at half-staff from sunrise to sunset on Saturday, January 7, 2012 in honor of Private First Class Justin M. Whitmire of Simpsonville, South Carolina who died on December 27, 2011 in Afghanistan.

  • January 6, 2011 - Wisconsin Governor Walker has ordered the flag of the United States and the flag of the State of Wisconsin lowered to half-staff at all buildings and grounds in the State of Wisconsin from sunrise to sunset on Friday, January 6, 2011 in honor of United States Army Staff Sergeant Joseph J. Altmann who died on December 25, 2011 in Afghanistan.

Bragg of Longview who died in the line of duty on December 21, 2011 in Afghanistan. All individuals are encouraged to join in this tribute.

  • January 4, 2011 - Virginia Governor McDonnell has ordered the flags of the United States of America and the Commonwealth of Virginia lowered to half-staff on all buildings and grounds throughout Virginia from sunrise to sunset on Wednesday, January 4, 2012 in honor of Former State Delegate, James Robert Dobyns. Delegate Dobyns served in the Military during World War II and in the 1980’s was elected to the Virginia House of Delegates, where he served for seven years.

  • January 3, 2012 - Illinois Governor Quinn has ordered the United States flag and Illinois State flag lowered to half-staff immediately, January 3, 2012 until sunset on Thursday, January 5, 2012 in honor of Chicago Police Officer Clifton Lewis.

  • January 2, 2012 - Wyoming Governor Mead has ordered the State of Wyoming flag to be flown at half-staff at the Capitol in Cheyenne and in Senate District 1 (Crook, Weston, Niobrara, Southeastern Converse and Northeastern Goshen Counties) from sunrise to sunset on January 2, 2012 in honor of former State Senator Charles “Chuck” Townsend who died on December 28, 2011. Mr. Townsend represented Senate District 1 from 2004 to 2010.
